This structure is said to be built on the site of a beautiful tram station, where waiting visitors could watch the gears of the machinery pull the cable on which the aerial tram rose up from the valley floor. The wheels were turned by the power of creatures known as agogatlovs, who had no metabolism and moved through the Earth itself. What they did have was such density that they had a significant gravitational pull and as they moved, they pulled and pushed huge counterweights beneath the mechanism. The trams were not light, because two sides were made of solid stone to accommodate another creature without metabolism—the xthaedra. Witty and clever, xthaedransg did not like to leave the ground, though they loved the view, so they liked to have one of their “angles” in a rock of some kind. They had a special affinity for this place, for it is where one of their great and humble leaders, Dmdl A!mbaciff, spent their later years.

At the height of its popularity, day and night visitors rode the tram here to enter Menonterken, the lattice of gorges that enmeshed the Earth in Kcymaerxthaereal times. What made these gorges so enticing was the fact the gorges were continuous, but their locations were not. Too many visitors were not gentle with the gorges, even leaving refuse in them, until gradually the ferylemt storms grew stronger and scarier, until only the committed continued to explore. But as A!mbaciff gestured once, “Menonterken can hold any number of the truly compelled, but there is no place for the smallest number of those who will not give of themselves.”
