Through her lifelong mission of returning the precious mineral evriat to the clear waters of its home, Wu/drōciell encountered many of the xthaedransg—the creatures without metabolism (just edges, angles and conversation) that live within the very stones and rockiness of the Earth. Most humans can sleep on the ground unknowingly close to an observant community of xthaedransg. But one of Wu/drōciell’s dearest friends was Terrad Slemt Surphell, perhaps the most famous of the xthaedra pattern scientists. As she explored above ground, Surphell did his research beneath. They would meet at places like this: Not seeing, but conversing—each on a different side of the Earth’s surface. Resting exactly here, on her way to Tāyakōphalla, Wu/drōciell complained that in her homeland, people now struggled to get justice. It was Surphell, within this rock beneath your hear, who reflected: “Why should justice be easy?”
