NSCAD University hosts Geographer-At-Large Eames Demetrios as part of the NSCAD Public Lecture Series on Wednesday, March 18, 2020.

Join us in learning from a multi-faceted artist whose work is known around the world. Demetrios’ lecture begins at 6:00 p.m., and takes place in the Bell Auditorium (D440), Fountain Campus, 5163 Duke Street, Halifax.

Demetrios is best known in the design world for his work as director of the Eames Office, spearheading the successful re-discovery of the Charles and Ray Eames design heritage by new generations. He has written several books about Charles and Ray Eames, including An Eames Primer, intended as a thematic biography of their life, work, process and philosophy, now widely used by schools and available in three languages.

In addition, Demetrios has made over 60 films and videos of various lengths over the past 25 years. Themes include a fiction feature on homelessness, a documentary on Sambo Mockbee’s Rural Studio, and the Malibu/Old Topanga Fire. His current large-scale project, Kcymaerxthaere, is a multi-pronged and ongoing work of three-dimensional fiction and has been underway for 17 years.

The NSCAD Public Lecture Series invites internationally-recognized leaders in contemporary art, culture and design to NSCAD to engage with our students and community through lectures, studio visits and public events.

This event is free and all are welcome to attend!
