Definition
Benches constructed of four materials that each have their own conservation challenge. Tumblewood, even when coated with magnesium/ stynemesse paint, experiences an almost inevitable decline, (and is noted for the eventual appearance of parasitic ivy, which slowly saps the wood of its strength). That carefully handmixed paint, though relatively permanent, is difficult to recreate and tends to react poorly with the feldspaar content of the granite base. Finally, the low-grade Sacramento Iron rusts quickly unless kept completely dry.
