Fleche Wyndes

[FLATCH WINDS]

Origin

(Bench name)

Definition

Fleche means “Time” in False Cognate. Also: Refers to holes in the metal support of certain benches in the Museum of the Bench's NW Urban Pavilion (Quadrant 7), whose benchmakers passed the curing time by hand-painting the leaves of plants known as marcessants (meaning they normally look dried out) the perfect green such that from just one view (this one) all would appear verdant. Not only was it so engrossing the precise moment of bench excellence would often slip by, it was a vicious circle, since the alloys in the discarded benches were the pigments in the most subtle greens.
