Paralytic Forests were rather terrifying places to visit because the trees, in addition to often having poisonous branch tips and the like with which to capture their prey (and let it rot into the soil), often behaved as if out of control in a wind—but actually were lashing out on their own. Calm days could be quite dangerous.
