Generasi dari beberapa generasi lalu, dan banyak Bulan-bulan jefret (artinya “disamping Waktu), ada kebudayaan di Kcymaerxthaere yang dikenal sebagai Bravenleavanne yang kepercayaan intinya adalah melakukan hal baik untuk kebaikan itu sendiri – bukan untuk pahala atau rasa takut menerima hukuman dalam bentuk apa pun. Komunitas mereka tidak terbatas untuk manusia saja-organisme apa pun yang dapat berkomunikasi akan diterima. Misalnya, Forest Bess disebutkan sebagai penganut, sama seperti xthaedra Dmdl A!mbaciff. Dan ketika arwah-arwah keluarga ini mendatangi yang lainnya, maka seseorang akan mulai memanggi dengan antusias dan lalu _ dimulai, sebuah kata bentuk yang arti harfiahnya “pengingat dari semua kebaikan yang belum terselesaikan.” Orang luar seperti Valp menyebutnya sebagai Doa Kerendahan Hati.
Meski adanya pernyataan lain, esensi dari panggilan-dan-tanggung jawab dari Bravenleavanne diyakini oleh banyak kaum terpelajar terjadi pertama kali di titik ini. Bersama: Untuk Masa Depan yang menuntut kebaikan bagi semua warganya-dan semua bertanya pada kami, sekarang jauh dari masa lalu mereka, mengapa kita tidak melakukan hal lebih?
The Work That Remains
A generation of generations ago, and many Moons jefret (meaning “sideways in Time”), there was a culture in Kcymaerxthaere known as the Bravenleavanne whose core belief was the doing of good deeds for the sake of the deed itself—not for reward nor for fear of punishment in any universe. Their communities were not limited to humans—any conversational organisms were welcome. Forrest Bess was known to be an adherent, as was the xthaedra Dmdl Almbaciff. And when such kindred spirits would come upon each other, inevitably one would in their own way call out and thus begin the , a shape word that means literally “reminder of all the good and all the work that remains to be done.” Outsiders, like the Valp, called it The Humility Prayer.
Despite other claims, this essential Bravenleavanne call-and-response is believed by most scholars to have first taken place on this spot. Indeed, that first time was followed here by a long connection of the minds and a touching of tendrils—for those with tendrils (fingertips welcomed too). These customs are still followed, but more and more rarely. In fact, the Bravenleavanne are so humble that over Time they gathered together less and less -having noticed that in groups they could be a bit too pleased with themselves: better to be your own only audience.
The Humility Prayer:
Toast: To undoing the wrongs of the Past!
Response: Without which we would not be here today.
Toast: To seeing clearly the failings of our Present!
Response: Which surely mask still more.
Toast: To reaching out with our deepest selves to those Jefret to us!
Response: Even as we fall short to those jefret to them.
Together: To many Futures, all demanding the best of their citizens-and all asking us, now far in their past, why did we not do more?
